5 steps to write a presentation

To write your presentation you need first to understand the proper type you are writing with, and we have 4 types of presentation you can read our introduction to business presentation to learn more.

For documentary types (educational – informational) you don’t have to brainstorm because you might want to get through your presentation quickly or you don’t have a team.

 

How to do brainstorming?

  • Explain the process
  • Limit and understand the problem
  • Create a suitable atmosphere for creative brainstorming
  • Gather ideas
  • Record every idea
  • Eliminate bad ideas
  • Use questions to motivate brainstorming
  • Improve good ideas
  • Prioritize everything
  • Choose final ideas
  • Execute ( write your presentation)

 

Prepare yourself to write

  • Collect all the information you need (ideas & thesis)
  • Organize them based on audience’ needs

  • Write your first draft

  • Keep it simple and short (especially in slide type)
  • Choose your right typography
  • Avoid writing big paragraphs or long bullets
  • Keep headlines catchy
  • Use active voice (direct to addressee “ex: you or your not one and ones”- don’t use passive)
  • Avoid redundancy

 

How to proofread and edit your presentation?

  • Check grammar and punctuation forwardly
  • Check any spelling mistakes backwardly
  • Don’t rely on  an online checker, it won’t recognize between ‘from’ and ‘form’
  • Review 2 or 3 times

 

How to create your presentation layout?

It’s very important to make your presentation readable and scannable. It’s very critical to make

your presentation very scannable not short. To do this, you need to follow some steps

  • 12 words per line not longer
  • Use clear font
  • Avoid flashing colors for paragraphs
  • Just 3 or 4 lines maximum
  • Use eloquent bullets and numbered list
